Scientists reveal how exercise protects the brain from Alzheimer’s

Scientists have found out how exercise helps protect our brains as we get older. They discovered that when we exercise, our bodies make more of a special thing called GPLD1. This is an enzyme that helps the brain stay strong. As we age, a shield around our brain, called the blood-brain barrier, can become weak and leaky. This allows bad things to get into the brain, causing problems. The GPLD1 helps to keep this barrier strong. It stops another protein, TNAP, from building up and causing the barrier to weaken. So, exercise helps to rejuvenate the brain by keeping the blood-brain barrier healthy and preventing inflammation which is linked to problems like Alzheimer's disease. This shows how physical activity is important for brain health.
